Award: Atlanta Bungalow Bathroom

Project: If You Love Something, Redo It The Same Way
Designer: J Thomas Designs
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, USA

An Atlanta family of four lived for years in a 1940s bungalow with only one small bathroom. They finally added an extension to create much-needed space, including a dream master bath. The new bathroom featured a freestanding soaking tub, a glass-enclosed shower, and a large dual vanity.

Unfortunately, a water leak in 2023 required the entire bathroom to be redone with the same materials. The elegant tile design began with a geometric mosaic of white, blue, and gray marble for the main floor. Setting an elegant tone in the space, the bathroom tile design began with an interlocking geometric mosaic made of white, blue and grey marble for the main floor.

The bathroom walls were anything but plain, with two full-height walls showcasing various white marble tiles. These walls featured a 6×12” outside border, a 1”x3” soldier course border, and a 3”x8” herringbone box. To keep focus on these walls, the knee wall was tiled with the same white 6×12” brick set marble. The walk-in shower floor used the same mosaic as the main floor.
